Injury situation may be improving for Gators
Having last week off may have helped Florida in the injury department.
Florida coach Urban Meyer said Monday that junior RB Jeff Demps (sprained foot) has been running on the treadmill and looks promising for Saturday's game against Georgia. Demps has missed two games and played sparingly in another since injuring his foot against Tennessee on Sept. 18.
"He's going to practice 20-25 snaps a day,'' Meyer said of Demps' status this week.
The Gators will also try to get their injured kicker, Caleb Sturgis, back onto the field. Sturgis fractured his back last month and hasn't played since the Oct. 2 Alabama game. Meyer said they'll try Sturgis out this week and see what happens. Florida's kicking game has been in serious trouble since Sturgis' injury - punter Chas Henry has taken over kickoff, punting and kicking duties. He's currently 2-of-5 on field goals.
Freshman WR Andre Debose remains questionable for the game, and DT Jaye Howard (ankle) "is still hobbling but he's good to go for the game,' Meyer said.
"We've got to get some of these guys back healthy,'' Meyer said.
