Jeff Demps still struggling with foot injury

Florida track coach Mike Holloway said llast week that he expects junior RB and track standout Jeff Demps to be ready for indoor track season when it begins next month, but Demps is still struggling with the stress reaction injury he suffered against Tennessee in September. He missed three games and played sparingly in the rest since that injury.

Florida coach Urban Meyer said today that Demps is in a protective boot and has not practiced since the Florida State game on Nov. 27.

"I’m hoping, like Gator Nation is,'' Meyer said when asked if Demps will play against Penn State in the Outback Bowl on Jan. 1. "He does have a stress reaction. He’s still in a boot and he has not practiced. I’ll update you as we go.''

QB Jordan Reed, who suffered a concussion in the Florida State game, also has not practiced, but Meyer said all indications are that he will be able to play in the bowl game.

DT Terron Sanders had arthroscopic surgery on his shoulder and DT Lawrence Marsh underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum in his hip.
