John Brantley's status never in doubt
Despite rampant rumors all week long, and even up to the hour prior to kickoff about his status for Saturday night's game against LSU, Florida quarterback John Brantley said his status was never in question.
"There was never any doubt I was going to play,'' Brantley said after Saturday night's game. "I knew even early in the week I was going to play.''
Brantley said he has been in pain this week, but wouldn't use that as an excuse for anything that happened Saturday night. His coach, however, came to his defense.
"They are not cracked, but there’s some damage to his ribs,'' Urban Meyer said. "He’s hurt. He fought his tail off, which you’d expect out of Johnny. Johnny’s a tough nut.''
Meanwhile, junior RB Jeff Demps missed the entire game with his sprained foot.
Redshirt freshman OL Jon Halapio left the game in the second quarter with a compound fracture in his hand. WR Deonte Thompson and RB Mike Gillislee also missed time in the game with injuries.
