Kenny Boynton scores 22 points to lead Gators over Texas A&M

Saturday afternoon was a very special homecoming for Kenny Boynton.

The junior guard from Pompano Beach scored a game-high 22 points to help the No. 13 Gators to an 84-64 win over No. 22 Texas A&M in front of 11,262 in the Orange Bowl Basketball Classic at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise.

Boynton was named the tournament’s MVP for the second consecutive season.

“It’s always great to come back home and have a great performance,’’ Boynton said. “This is our third year here. The first year we lost, but last year we won, so I think I played well overall, but I’m more happy with the win.’’

Florida junior forward Erik Murphy returned to the starting lineup after missing three games with a bone bruise in his knee and coming off the bench the past two games. He scored 13 points and had five rebounds. Florida's Bradley Beal and Erving Walker each added 16 points.
