Kentucky AD: Billy says no to Wildcats
GAINESVILLE - Kentucky athletic director Mitch Barnhart has confirmed that he and Florida coach Billy Donovan did have a conversation about the vacant head coaching job at Kentucky, but Donovan informed him he would remain with the Gators.
"I had a conversation with Billy Donovan today to gauge any interest he might have in the head coahcing position at Kentucky,'' Barnhart said in a statement. Billy informed me that he intends to stay in Gainesville. As a former UK assistant, we wish him the very best.''
Florida has scheduled a press conference for 4 p.m. today, where Donovan is expected to formally announce he's staying and the four Florida juniors are expected to announce whether they will return for their senior season or leave for the NBA. The press conference will be aired live on Sun Sports.
