Lakewood alum Dante Fowler, Jr. impresses coaches early
It's still early, and he's still making his share of freshman mistakes, but Florida defensive coordinator Dan Quinn said former Lakewood standout LB Dante Fowler, Jr. has been impressive in fall camp.
Fowler, Jr. was ranked the No. 3 DE by Rivals.com, but Quinn said it's too soon to know how much of an impact he can have this season.
"When you talk about Fowler he plays with a lot of power, he's really strong so if he can get up underneath you he can get knock back,'' Quinn said. "You can see that. Where he can set the edge and rush."
Quinn said both Fowler and freshman DL Jonathan Bullard have impressed the coaching staff during fall drills.
"Bullard (is) the same way, has some size and length to him so when you get him out in the perimeter he has length he can get off (blocks),'' Quinn said. "He plays a really good six technique, which is head up on the tight end.''Both of those two guys have been working hard, they're in the mix and competing with the guys each day,''
Freshman LB Antonio Morrison is also showing signs of being every bit as good as his No. 5 overall ranking in Illinois suggests. "He's a very physical player,'' Quinn said.
