No. 10 Gators stun fourth-ranked LSU with 14-6 victory
The tenth-ranked Florida Gators overcame a sluggish offensive first half, and relied on a stellar defensive performance to earn a 14-6 upset victory over No. 4 LSU today at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
The Gators had just 47 yards off offense in the first half and didn't score, but its defense managed to keep Florida in the game.
Florida took its first lead on a 12-yard run by senior RB Mike Gillislee with 5:15 remaining in the third quarter to give the Gators a 7-6 lead. Gillislee also scored Florida's other touchdown on a 13-yard run early in the fourth quarter.
This is Florida's first victory over a top 5 opponent at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium since 2008. The Gators defeated then-No. 4 LSU.
