No. 2 women's tennis team opens season today
The second-ranked Florida women’s tennis team kicks off its 39th year of varsity competition this afternoon with a match against UCF, beginning at 5 p.m. at Linder Stadium at Ring Tennis Complex in Gainesville.
Florida is 8-0 all-time against UCF. The last time the two programs met, UF won 6-1. The Gators are 35-3 all-time in season-opening dual matches and have won 26 consecutive season-openers, with the last loss a 7-2 setback at Miami on Feb. 1, 1985.
Florida owns an impressive 184-33 record against in-state rivals and has reeled off six straight victories against Sunshine State opponents.
