No. 7 Gators fall to No. 6 Florida State
Florida State freshman Scott Sitz worked a career-high six innings and senior Stephen Cardullo (2-for-4)
had a pair of doubles as sixth-ranked Florida State (26-7) edged No. 7 Florida, 3-2, on Tuesday night in front of 6,526 fans at Dick Howser Stadium, the eighth-largest crowd in school history.
With the Gators trailig by three, Tampa sophomore Preston Tucker opened the fourth inning with a single
and freshman Austin Maddox followed with his team-leading 10th double. An RBI grounder by junior Josh Adams made it a 3-1 game. Florida pulled to within 3-2 on a hit by freshman Mike Zunino, also in the fourth, but could not take the lead.
Tucker improve his hitting streak to seven games and the Gators fell to 5-2 away from home this season.
