Palm Beach quarterback Jacoby Brissett makes it official
His mother desperately wanted him at Miami, but West Palm Beach Dywer QB Jacoby Brissett had other ideas.
On Friday night, Brissett publicly announced that he planned to attend Florida on a football scholarship, but his mom vowed to spend the weekend trying to change his mind.
Apparently, her efforts were in vain.
Brissett faxed his National Letter of Intent to Florida on Monday, officially making him a part of the Gators' 2011 signing class.
Brissett is rated the No. 3 QB in the nation by both Rivals.com and Scout.com.
“Jacoby will be a good fit in our program,” Florida coach Will Muschamp said. “He is an outstanding quarterback and we are excited to have
him join the Gator family.”
The addition of Brissett could make things much tougher for current Florida QB John Brantley. Florida's 2011 signing class also includes QB Jeff Driskel - who is rated the No. 1 quarterback in the nation by ESPNU. Driskel is an early enrollee who will participate in spring drills and Muschamp has said all positions will be open when spring practice begins.
