Report: Aaron Hernandez's NFL stock fell due to drug use

Former Gator tight end Aaron Hernandez failed more than one drug test for marijuana use during his career at Florida, which is the major reason he fell from a projected second round NFL draft pick to a fourth round selection, sources told the Boston Globe.

Hernandez, who decided to bypass his senior season and enter the NFL draft, was selected by the New England Patriots on Saturday. Sources told the Boston Globe that Hernandez passed his drug test at the NFL combine, but admitted to the drug use while in college. Another source told the Globe that Hernandez failed just one test while at UF.

Hernandez did not play in the Nov. 21, 2009 game against FIU, and at the time UF coach Urban Meyer said Hernandez was not ready to play. He also missed the season opener in 2008 for undisclosed disciplinary reasons.
