Rutgers transfer Mike Rosario signs with Gators

Two weeks ago, Florida coach Billy Donovan said he remained actively recruiting in the late signing period and hadn't ruled out sighing a few more players to help fill out his depleted roster.

On Sunday, he made good on that effort.

Mike Rosario, a 6-foot 3, 190-pound guard who will transfer from Rutgers, has signed a scholarship with the Gators and is expected to join the team in June. Per NCAA rules, he will have to sit out next season. Rosario, who was ranked the No. 8 shooting guard by in the Class of 2008, decided to transfer after Rutgers coach Fred Hill was fired.

"I'm growing as a person and I'm looking out for my future,'' Rosario told Mark Wheeler of "I want to be part of something special and in talking to Billy Donovan, going to Florida is a great decision to better me and my future. I had a wonderful time at Rutgers. My first two years there I did everything I could to try to get the program to where it needs to be at, but it's time to move forward.''

Rosario averaged 16.7 points and 3.9 rebounds last season. He chose the Gators over Kansas state, Tennessee, Maryland and Kentucky.

Florida is expected to find out on Monday whether Will Yeguete, the 6-foot-7 forward from Florida Air Academy, will also be joining the Gators. Yeguete has narrowed his choices to Florida and Georgia Tech.
