Ryan Lochte continues to make his mark at World Championships

The gold medal total is now four for former Florida All-American swimmer Ryan Lochte.

Lochte won gold in the 200-meter backstroke and as part of the United States 4x200-meter freestyle relay team on Thursday in Shanghai at the World Championships.

Lochte has earned five medals so far this week. He also had victories in the 200 free and 200 individual medley earlier this week, and a bronze in the 4x100 free relay.

Lochte won the 200 in 1:52.96. In the final event of the night, Lochte, Michael Phelps, Peter Vanderkaay and Richard Berens swam to gold in the 4x200-meter freestyle relay in 7:02.67.  Lochte anchored the U.S. team in the finals with the fastest split, 1:44.56, to help the team overtake France and secure the victory.
