SEC sweep for Gators: Patric Young and Bradley Beal named SEC Player and Freshman of the Week
Florida center Patric Young's career-high game against Arizona last week helped him earn SEC Player of the Week honors, the league office announced today.
The sophomore from Jacksonville averaged 18.5 points, 10 rebounds, 1.5 assists, one block and one steal in leading the Gators to wins over Arizona and Rider. Young made 77.3 percent (17-22) of his field goals in the two games and had a double-double in each contest.
He scored a career-high 25 points against Arizona, shooting 12-of-15 from the field. He also had 10 rebounds. Against Rider this past Friday night, Young scored 12-points and had 10 rebounds in 28 minutes.
Beal, a freshman from St. Louis, was named SEC Freshman of the Week. He averaged 13.5 points, five rebounds, two assists and 0.5 steals this past week. Beal scored nine points and added six rebounds against Arizona, and had 18 points and four rebounds against Rider.
