Six Gators named Preseason All-Americans in Phil Steele's Magazine
Six Florida football players have been selected to Phil Steele’s 2009 Preseason All-American Teams, and 16 earned spots on the preseason All-SEC Teams, including seven on the first team.
Florida’s five first-team All-America selections were the most of any school in the nation. The seven Gators on the preseason All-SEC first team were the most of any school in the conference and their 16 selections overall were the highest in the league.
Senior QB Tim Tebow was named first-team All-American and first-team All-SEC by the publication. Junior DE Carlos Dunlap junior CB Joe Haden and senior LB Brandon Spikes were also selected as preseason first-team All-Americans and All-SEC players.
Junior safety Ahmad Black was selected to the preseason All-SEC first team while senior DE Jermaine Cunningham and junior punter Chas Henry were named to the second team. Junior TE Aaron Hernandez, junior guard Mike Pouncey , and junior WR Deonte Thompson were second-team offensive selections.
