South Carolina to be without DT Kelcy Quarles for the Florida game

South Carolina DT Kelcy Quarles has been suspended for Saturday's game against No. 2 Florida for disciplinary reasons after he threw a punch at an opposing player during last week's loss at LSU.

Quarles did not travel to Gainesville with the No. 9 Gamecocks today.

He was captured on a video throwing a punch at LSU center P.J. Lonergan following a play in last Saturday's game.

South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier said during the SEC teleconference on Wednesday that he and his staff did not condone Quarles' actions, but that the punch may have been a retaliation for a sucker punch Quarles took earlier in the play.

Quarles most likely would not have played in the Florida game because he is dealing with a shoulder injury.
