St. Pete's Jon Halapio in the mix for starting job
A year ago this time, Jon Halapio would be the first to tell you he was completely lost in Florida's offensive rotation.
The former St. Petersburg Catholic standout OL struggled last season with the intricacies of playing offensive line in college - the multiple defensive schemes coming at him, the speed, even the size of defensive opponents.
Earlier this month Halapio said he was in the best shape of his life and finally felt comfortable in his role. And on Saturday, Florida offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Steve Addazio said Halapio could be a starter this season.
"He's battling to be a starter right now,'' Addazio said. "He's done a great job this camp. So I would see him battling to be a starter right now. I think he's done a great job. I'm ready for him to play.'
