Tampa's Zick Sets New School Record
GAINESVILLE - Senior Melissa Zick was among two Gators who set school records during Florida's two victories over Kentucky Sunday afternoon.
Zick hit a home run in her first at-bat in Florida's second game to set the UF hit streak record at 14 games. She has hit safely in each game since April 14.
Zick, a former Chamberlain standout, is hitting .512 (22-for-43) during the streak, with 12 runs scored, 18 RBI, two doubles, a triple and seven home runs.
Sophomore Kim Waleszonia, the SEC Player of the Week last week, hit a double in the sixth inning of game one on Sunday to set the Florida record for hits in a season (77). The previous record of 76 was set by Lora Pinkerton in 2000. Waleszonia is currently 78-for-210 this season. Pinkerton was 76-for-243.
