Ten Gators named to preseason All-SEC team
Ten Florida players were named to the preseason All-SEC team selected by members of the SEC media on Friday - the final day of SEC Media Days.
Defending SEC and national champion Alabama had a league-high 12 players selected to the team.
Alabama was predicted to defeat Florida to win the SEC Championship game for the second consecutive season. Writers have predicted the correct conference champion four times since 1992.
Alabama was predicted to win the West, followed by Arkansas, Auburn, LSU, Mississippi State and Ole Miss. The Tide had the most first-team selections with eight followed by Georgia with four. Florida had three selections while Arkansas, Auburn, Kentucky, LSU and South Carolina had two each. Ole Miss had one first-team choice.
The Gators' first-team selections are: OL Mike Pouncey, LB Brandon Hicks and DB Ahmad Black. Offensive linemen Carl Johnson and Marcus Gilbert, DB Justin Trattou, defensive backs Janoris Jenkins and Will Hill, punter Chas Henry and returner Chris Rainey were all second-team selections.
Florida opens fall practice on Aug. 5.
