Three former Gators land free agent deals
Linebacker Ryan Stamper, kick return specialist/running back Brandon James and wide receiver David Nelson have all landed free agent deals after going undrafted in last weekend's NFL draft.
Stamper signed a deal with the Detroit Lions, while James has landed with the Indianapolis Colts. Nelson has agreed to a deal with Buffalo.
Stamper led the Gators in tackles last season (78), intercepted two passes, broke up another, and forced a fumble. He finished his UF career with 148 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and two interceptions.
"[The Lions'] linebacker situation is better for me to make the team," Stamper said.
James led Florida with 1,324 all-purpose yards last season and finished his career with 4,770 all-purpose yards and nine touchdowns. James holds the SEC record for kick return yards (kickoffs and punts) with 4,089 and his 1,371 punt return yards is a school record. His four punt returns for touchdowns are tied with Jacquez Green for the most in school history.
Nelson had 46 career receptions for 630 yards (13.7) and seven touchdowns.
