Three Gators earn postseason honors
Senior guard Sha Brooks and senior forward Marshae Dotson were unanimous first-team All-SEC selections, the league announced on Tuesday.
Freshman Trumae Lucas was named to the All-Freshman team. She is the first Gator named to the SEC All-Freshman team since Brooks and Dotson were chosen in 2006.
This is the third time the Gators have placed two on the All-SEC First
team. Brooks and Dotson join Merlakia Jones and LaTonya McGhee, who were honored in 1993, and DeLisha Milton and Murriel Page in 1997.
"It's really an amazing honor and something I never really thought
about achieving," Brooks said. "To be mentioned along with players
like DeLisha Milton, Murriel Page, Tammy Jackson, Merlakia Jones and so many others who are truly Gator Greats is really an honor.''
Brooks leads Florida in scoring (16.4 ppg), assists (4.79), made free throws (125) and free throw attempts (157), while ranking second for steals (1.76). During the 14-game SEC schedule, she averaged 19.7 points (No. 2 in SEC), 5.71 assists (T-No. 2 in SEC), 2.00 steals (No. 5 in SEC), while shooting 40.8% (29-71) from the 3-point arc (No. 3 in SEC).
Dotson is UF’s second-leading scorer overall and in league games,
averaging 13.5 and 15.4 points, respectively.
