Three Gators named to Sporting News All-America team

Florida senior K Caleb Sturgis, junior S Matt Elam, and junior DT Sharrif Floyd have all been named to Sporting News’ All-America Team.

This marks the first time since 2009 that at least three Gators garnered first-team All-American honors.

Elam tied for 21st in the nation and third in the SEC in interceptions with four in 2012. His 65 total tackles ranks 41st in the country, as well.

Floyd recorded 41 total tackles and led the team in tackles for loss with 11 for a loss of 40 yards.

Sturgis led UF in scoring with 101 points and became the third player in school history to score at least 300 points in a career. He is one of three finalists for the Lou Groza Award, which will be presented tonight during the Home Depot College Football Awards.
