Two Gators earn weekly SEC honors

Florida catcher Brittany Schutte and pitcher Hudson Randall were each named SEC Freshman of the Week on Monday in their respective sports of softball and baseball.

Schutte led the No. 4/5 Gators with a .556 batting average, a 1.222 slugging percentage and a .600 on-base percentage in this past weekend's three-game sweep of Arkansas. She also tied for a team-high five hits and had two home runs, including a three-run shot in the first game against the Razorbacks in the fourth inning with UF trailing 3-0.  She also walked once and stole her third base of the season.

Randall led UF to its first series victory in Knoxville since 2002 by working a career-high eight innings in the finale in a 9-1 Florida win over Tennessee. He held the Vols hitless until a leadoff single in bottom of the sixth and matched his career high of six strikeouts to collect his first SEC win. Randall allowed four singles and one run without issuing any walks and retired the first eight batters of the game.
