Urban Meyer confident in Will Muschamp

December

He still has four days remaining as the Gators' head football coach, but Urban Meyer said he's leaving the program in good hands with incoming coach Will Muschamp.

Meyer said the transition and uncertainty has been tough on his staff, but they are handling the situation as true professionals would be expected. His players are also doing well, he said.

"The guy we hired is fantastic so I think that eased a lot of the burden,'' Meyer said. "The first priority is the players and then the coaches. Steve Addazio getting the Temple job certainly eased a lot. I think he's one of the finest coaches in America. I don't think, I know he is, so it's great to see that there is going to be some stability in our coaches' lives. And our players our fine now. When something happens everybody starts the nonsense about the, do this, do that. . . . You're at Florida. And then you hire a coach with an intensity and energy that we hired, it's been fantastic.''

Meyer said he still feels like this is his team until Saturday night, and he's enjoying himself on his way out.

"I've really enjoyed these last two weeks,'' he said. "I enjoyed practice (Monday) and I enjoy being around the players. If there's ever a good time, obviously I don't know if there ever is, this kind of worked out pretty well.''
