Urban Meyer stays out of hat controversy
Florida coach Urban Meyer has been known to inadvertently involve himself in controversial subjects while responding to questions from reporters, but Meyer made sure he stayed out of the controversy surrounding the Arkansas reporter who was fired on Monday for wearing a Gator hat to work.
Renee Gork , an Arkansas radio personality, announced on Twitter that she had been fired by KAKS, a northwest Arkansas radio station that calls itself Hog Sports Radio. Gork had worn a Gator hat Saturday to a news conference with Arkansas football coach Bobby Petrino.
When asked about it following Tuesday's practice, Meyer said he wasn't aware of the situation and asked for some details.
"What did she do? Wore a Gator hat?,'' Meyer said. "I don't get it. ''
When reporters gave him a thorough explanation, Meyer responded: "It's really hot outside.''
Florida defeated the Razorbacks 23-20 last season.
Think they don't take losing - and rivalries - seriously in the SEC?
