Vols not concerning themselves about losing streak to Gators
When Florida and Tennessee meet on Saturday night in Knoxville, the Vols will be trying to end a seven-game losing streak to the Gators.
But Tennessee coach Derek Dooley said the Vols' focus this week has been on preparation and there has been no talk about the streak or any pressure to end it.
“We don’t really even talk about that because the last seven games have nothing to do with what’s going to happen this week,’’ Dooley said.
The game is generating national attention again with ESPN's GameDay crew scheduled to broadcast from Knoxville. Dooley said attention can be good for the program - if his players handle it the right way.
"It depends on your level of maturity and your experience in the situation,'' he said. "This will be a little new for us. It's good. I think our players will handle it fine. This is where you want to be. You didn't come to Tennessee to not be on a big game, big stage and game day. That's why you came here. It shouldn't really have any impact on preparation, any impact on focus. The only impact it has is for the fans."
