Will Muschamp run his own defensive show?
New Florida head coach Will Muschamp has reportedly been talking with close friend and Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart about joining his staff, but there may be a different twist altogether.
Muschamp has been in contact with numerous Florida recruits, and several have said they were told by Muschamp that he may take on the defensive coordinator's job himself.
If that's the case, it would allow Muschamp to have an additional assistant coaching position.
Muschamp has been a defensive coordinator at LSU, Auburn and Texas, where he was also the head coach in waiting. If he chooses this route, he would be a rarity in the SEC, where most head coaches have coordinators.
Several recruits have already reaffirmed their commitments, including Ocala Trinity Catholic safety Chris Johnson. Others like Pensacola Pine Forest athlete Louchiez Purifoy are taking a wait and see approach.
