The latest on college sports in Florida

Dalvin Cook, Vernon Hargreaves earn more All-America accolades



The latest batch of college football All-America teams were unveiled Monday, with plenty of local players.

Florida State RB Dalvin Cook and Gators DB Vernon Hargreaves III (Wharton High) were both first-team All-America selections by the Football Writers Association of America. Second-team picks included FSU DB Jalen Ramsey and Oklahoma LB Eric Striker (Armwood High).

Pro Football Focus' college site made Florida DL Jon Bullard, Gators S Marcus Maye and Miami K Michael Badgley first-team selections. Second-team honorees included FSU S Derwin James, Western Kentucky TE Tyler Higbee (East Lake High) and Rutgers KR Janarion Grant (Pasco High). Cook, Ramsey and Gators DB Jalen Tabor were honorable-mention choices.

Ramsey was the only state player who was a first-team selection by ESPN.
