Danny Kanell: 'War on football is real'
Former Florida State quarterback Danny Kanell believes there is a "war on football" regarding concussions.
Here is what Kanell wrote on Twitter this morning: "The war on football is real. Not sure source but concussion alarmists are loving it. Liberal media loves it. Doesn't matter. It's real."
Kanell's comments were sparked by an op-ed piece in The New York Times called, "Don't Let Kids Play Football." The title sums it up pretty well. The piece is written by Bennet Omalu, one of the doctors who discovered a link between football and brain damage. The Will Smith film Concussion and the book League of Denial both center on Omalu and his research.
Kanell isn't the only person who has feared a "war on football." But as a former NFL quarterback and current ESPN analyst, he has a large platform to state his claim.
