Do Florida Gators have a shot at five-star quarterback Jacob Eason?
One of the state's most important recruiting battles will be waged in Washington.
That's the home of five-star QB Jacob Eason. I touched on his recruitment in Tuesday's paper.
Eason - Rivals' No. 6 overall prospect - remains orally committed to Georgia, despite the firing of coach Mark Richt, who's now at Miami.
"Right now, I'm still committed to Georgia," Eason told The Herald in Washington. "I took my trip to Florida and I'm still waiting to see who Georgia hires as (offensive coordinator). I have a couple options opened but I'm still committed so we'll see what happens."
Florida is also in the picture, and Eason took a recent visit to Gainesville.
"So I set up a trip there to go check that out and ended up really liking it," Eason told The Herald. "There's a lot of good things. Coach Nuss (offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier) coached at U-Dub and Coach (Jim McElwain) graduated from Eastern Washington and they've both got good track records. There's a lot of good things I got out of that trip."
