ESPN: FSU football No. 2 nationally, USF projected to win AAC
ESPN's Football Power Index is the latest reminder that Florida State will enter the fall as one of the favorites to come to Tampa for next year's national championship game.
The Seminoles are No. 2 in ESPN's FPI - a metric that tries to predict a team's performance based on thousands of computer simulations. FSU has a 43.8 percent chance of winning the ACC and a 10.2 percent of finishing the regular season undefeated. ESPN projects FSU to finish 10.6-1.9.
LSU is the site's top team and has a 38.8 percent chance to win the SEC. Oklahoma is third, followed by Clemson, Tennessee and Alabama.
USF is the index's favorite to win the American Athletic Conference (35.4 percent). ESPN gives the Bulls a predicted record of 8.7-3.8.
