Florida Gators to offer variable ticket prices for football home games in 2014

Florida has announced it will use a variable pricing system for single-game football tickets for the 2014 season.

Ticket prices for home games will be set based on demand for the game, meaning the better opponents will cost more to see.

It is the first time in school history the variable pricing model will be used.

Tickets for games against LSU (Oct. 11) and South Carolina (Nov. 15) will be $85. The Gators' games against Kentucky (Sept. 13) and Missouri (Oct. 18) will be $50. All non-conference opponents - Idaho (Aug. 30), Eastern Michigan (Sept. 6) and Eastern Kentucky (Nov. 22) will be $25 each.

The cost of season tickets is $280 per ticket, which UF says is a savings of $65 per ticket based on the variable prices.

Florida is coming off a 4-8 season where empty seats became the norm at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, particularly late in the season.

The Gator Ticket Office is currently taking orders for 2014 season tickets.

Single-game tickets will go on sale to the general public on Tuesday, July 22.
