Florida second baseman Kelsey Stewart named SEC Player of the Week

Florida second-baseman Kelsey Stewart was named SEC Player of the Week on Monday based on her performance in games against USF and No. 18 Kentucky.

It is her second SEC honor this season.

Stewart led the No. 3 Gators to a 3-1 record this past week, including a 9-1 mercy-rule win over USF April 10, and UF's sixth SEC series win over Kentucky.

Stewart batted .500 or above in all four of UF's games in the past week, including a career-tying three hits vs. USF Wednesday (3-for-5), the start of a four-game hit streak. She had a career-tying four assists twice over the weekend in UF's two wins against Kentucky.

Florida (41-5, 14-4 SEC) has now won all of its conference series this season and the two victories over a ranked Kentucky squad elevated the Gators to 8-3 (.727) against top-25 competition this season.
