Gator gymnastics team advances to NCAA Super Six
dDespite an early fall on the floor routine, the Florida gymnastics team rallied to finish first with a total of 197.775 in the first session and advance to the NCAA Super Six.
The SEC took all three spots available for the Super Six in Friday's first session. LSU finished second (197.325) and Georgia was third (197.150). The remaining three teams will be decided in tonight's Session II.
On their first routine, sophomore Kiersten Wang fell during a tumbling pass on the floor, earning an 8.825. The Gators followed with Bridget Sloan (a 9.900), Ashanee Dickerson (9.825), Marissa King (9.900), Kytra Hunter (9.875) and Bridgette Caquatto (9.825), giving the Gators the opportunity to drop Wang's score.
Sloan posted Session I's top all-around score with a 39.600. The Gators will be making their eighth appearance in the Super Six under 11-year head coach Rhonda Faehn.
