Gator lacrosse back in action today



After three road games and three road wins to open the season, the No. 3 Florida lacrosse team opens up their home schedule today in a match against No. 18/19 Stony Brook. Opening draw is set for 3:30 p.m.

The Gators have their best start in program history, including wins over No. 5 North Carolina, Jacksonville and High Point. Florida will play three games in five daysat home. They host UC Davis on Friday and Albany on Sunday.

Now in its fourth season, Florida is led by a core group of seniors. Senior attack  Gabi Wiegand leads the Gators with nine points (seven goals, two assists),while senior midfielder Brittany Dashiel has eight points (four goals, four assists).  Freshman midfielder Sydney DuPre is the two-time ALC Rookie of the Week and has chipped in three ground balls, a draw control and a caused turnover.

Senior goalie Mikey Meagher has started all three games in goal for the Gators and has 20 saves so far this season.
