Gators DT Dominique Easley will not seek to return for extra season
Senior DT Dominique Easley has decided to move on to the NFL after this season, Florida coach will Muschamp said. Easley suffered a torn ACL in this past Tuesday’s practice and is out for the season.
He will not seek a medical redshirt.
"He's a guy that's had two ACL’s” Muschamp said. “I think that's the best move for him right now and going to prepare himself for April and get ready for that. He and I talked briefly about it and that's what he wants to do and I support it 100 percent.
Muschamp said he doesn’t believe coming off a severe injury will negatively affect Easley’s NFL prospects. Several analyst had him as a first-round pick before the injury; last season he was projected in the fourth.
“He'll have plenty of interest,” Muschamp said. “He'll be a productive guy on the next level. He's a really good football player. He's extremely intelligent. He gets the game. His tape speaks for itself and how he plays the game and approaches the game. He'll be fine. There will be a lot of organizations that want him in their organization."
