Gators lacrosse coach Amanda O'Leary named conference Coach of the Year
Florida lacrosse coach Amanda O'Leary has been named the American Lacrosse Conference Coach of the Year.
It is the third time in the past four years O'Leary has earned that honor.
O’Leary,who also earned Coach of the Year in 2011 and 2013, led the Gators to their fourth consecutive ALC title and a top-seed in the ALC tournament. O’Leary is 78-20 at Florida, including 27-8 in the ALC.
Gators' MF Shannon Gilroy was named ALC Midfielder of the Year and Sammi Burgess earned Rookie of the Year honors.
Florida also placed four players on the All-Conference teams: Nora Barry and Gilroy were first-team, and Caroline Fitzgerald and Burgess were named to the second team.
The Gators open play at the ALC tournament on Friday at 4:30 p.m. in the semifinals. Florida will play the winner of the game featuring No. 4 seed Penn State and No. 5 seed Johns Hopkins.
