Gators look to Wisconsin for preparation for Razorbacks
With Arkansas being led by first-year coach Bret Bielema, tape of what to expect from the Razorbacks was a little slim.
So the Gators turned to tape of Wisconsin, where Bielema previously coached, to get a better handle on what they'll be facing when they host Arkansas Saturday night.
“Quite a bit, we’ve watched both," Durkin said. "You know whenever you get a new staff in there you’ve gotta have a healthy mix of where guys have been. So with Bielema being at Wisconsin, we’ve watched that. With Chaney being at Tennessee obviously we have all that film we’ve watched that, we faced that last year, so I think it’s a combination of both as well as what they’re doing right now. You kinda try and get an idea of how they’ve meshed things together and what they’re looking to do.”
Under Bielema, the Razorbacks have become known for their physicality, and UF coach Will Muschamp said this may be the most physical opponent the Gators have faced so far.
"We're physical too, so it's not something we won't be prepared for," Gators LB Mike Taylor said.
Durkin said the Gators and Razorbacks are similar in some ways on offense.
“I think there’s definitely similarities, they wanna run the ball, we wanna run the ball," he said. "There’s a lot of shifts and motions, they try and formation you a lot. Our offense does that. So ya there’s definitely comparisons.”
