Gators Michael Frazier II most likely to miss season opener
Florida sophomore guard Michael Frazier II is progressing, but his bout with mononucleosis most likely will keep him out of the Gators' season opener against North Florida on Friday.
"He has not practiced at all," Florida coach Billy Donovan said. "He did do some individual work yesterday. He got into a few non-contact drills. He's cleared - not to go through practice - but he's cleared to at least see how he responds. So we'll do a little bit more with him today. And basically that's a decision between the trainer and the doctor, so we'll probably have a better idea after practice or tomorrow whether or not he'll be available."
Frazier was diagnosed with mononucleosis on Oct. 30 after battling illness for a couple of weeks. The virus was initially ruled out as a factor in his illness, but a second tests was positive for the virus.
The Gators will host North Florida at 3 p.m. on Friday at the O'Connell Center.
