Gators open three-game series vs. South Carolina tonight

The Florida baseball team will open a three-game series against South Carolina tonight at 7:30 at McKethan Stadium in Gainesville.

The Gators (16-18/5-7 SEC) and No. 8 Gamecocks (27-7/8-4) will be the featured game on ESPNU's Thursday Night SEC Baseball Game of the Week. The game will be televised on CSS/Cox Sports Friday at 7:30 p.m. and on ESPN2, Saturday at 3 p.m.

The Gators are coming off a 4-3 win over No. 7 Florida State in which Florida used a sac fly and relied on two errors to win the game.

South Carolina extended its winning streak to four games on a walk-off solo homer by sophomore Joey Pankake to down The Citadel, 6-5. The Gamecocks have won three of their last four games in SEC play.

Florida is 8-10 (.444) against ranked teams this season and has faced a ranked opponent in 15 of its last 17 outings (6-9 mark).

Junior pitcher Jonathon Crawford (1-3, 4.50 ERA) will start for a team-leading ninth time tonight.
