Gators softball moves up to No. 1 in latest ESPN poll
Undefeated so far this season (6-0) and having earned wins over two ranked teams this past week, the Florida softball team climbed two spots this week to take over the No. 1 ranking in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25.
It's the first time the Gators have been ranked No. 1 since Feb. 28, 2011. Florida also rose two spots to No. 2 in the USA Today/NFCA poll.
Last week, the Gators earned victories over then-No. 23/25 USF and then-No. 4/5 Michigan, along with wins over Wisconsin, Illinois State and Bethune-Cookman.
Florida's scheduled home-opener against Jacksonville University today has been postponed to Feb. 19 due to inclement weather.
However, the Gators are scheduled to travel to Las Vegas this weekend for the Easton Desert Classic, where Florida will face five opponents including No. 24/22 Minnesota and Hawaii.
