HOOVER, Ala. -- Mark Richt isn't in town for the SEC's media days; he'll get his turn to speak next week in Charlotte during the ACC's football kickoff.

But Miami's new head coach is still being discussed, and praised, by his former SEC colleagues, even after he was fired at Georgia.

"Mark Richt is one of the better coaches in all of college football, I think," Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said. "And he's one of the true professionals in all of college football. I think he's a great example for young guys getting into that profession of what -- how you're supposed to act, how you're supposed to, you know, go about your business...

"It was an honor for me to coach against Coach Richt."

Richt was 145-51 during his 15 seasons with the Bulldogs. He took over his alma mater, UM, in December.
