Jimbo Fisher: 'I'm staying right here at Florida State'
Jimbo Fisher is staying at Florida State.
The Seminoles' head coach ended any speculation (again) Tuesday during an interview on the Open Mike radio show in Orlando.
"You're exactly right," Fisher said in the interview. "I'm staying right here at Florida State...
"There is no doubt I do (have one of the best jobs in America. This is a tremendous place. The Florida State people have been wonderful. This is a great place to live, a great place to coach; we've got great players, great tradition and great history. This is a tremendous job and a heck of place. I love it here
"All those other places (LSU, Georgia, etc.) are great, but this is just as good."
Reports out of Louisiana targeted him as a potential replacement for Les Miles at LSU. The Tigers ended up keeping Miles.
With Mark Richt out at Georgia, Fisher's name was expected to pop up again. He has experience in the SEC and in the region. Georgia is regarded by some as perhaps the best job in the country, given its facilities, recruiting base and place in the weaker division of the SEC.
Fisher led No. 10 FSU to a 10-2 record (including Saturday's 25-point win over Florida) during what was expected to be a transition year. The Noles could again contend for the national championship in 2016.
