Miami QB recruit Jack Allison talks Mark Richt, playing for Hurricanes
Miami QB recruit Jack Allison had an impressive performance during Saturday's Under Armour All-America Game. The four-star prospect from Palmetto threw for a game-high 83 yards in his team's 27-0 win.
I caught up with Allison a few days before the game and chatted with him about new Hurricanes coach Mark Richt, playing early and more:
Q: What's been your reaction as a recruit watching the coaching search unfold and then ending up with Coach Mark Richt?
A: It's exciting to see Coach Richt bring his new staff in. I think he's really going to change the program for the better. I think that we're going to be competing for more championships in the years to come.
Q: How much interaction had you had with him before he came to Miami? Did he recruit you at all at Georgia?
A: Not a lot. The first time I met him was his home visit with me the week he got hired, but I like him a lot.
Q: What was the visit like?
A: It was cool. We didn't really talk about football. We kind of just talked about who he is, and we got to know each other. It was cool. I like him a lot.
Q: I'm sure you did your homework. He has a knack for developing quarterbacks.
A: Yeah. He's definitely had a really good history with quarterbacks in his system. It's a good thing for me to have him there.
Q: What do you think it's going to be like being a quarterback at Miami? That's a premier position at a premier school that's known for quarterbacks.
A: It's going to be an honor just to be a part of the U, be a part of QB U. I'm excited about it.
Q: How important is it for you to play early?
A: I think I'll probably redshirt my first year and then have four years to compete and start. I'm just going to get there and develop and become a better quarterback.
