SEC Media picks Florida Gators to finish third in SEC East

If the media members covering the SEC are correct - and often they are not -  Florida will finish third in the SEC East this season.

The Gators were picked to finish behind predicted SEC champion Georgia, and runner-up South Carolina. Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Missouri and Kentucky round out the predicted finish.

Alabama was picked to win the West, and predicted to have a rematch with Georgia in the SEC Championship game. Texas A&M was predicted to finish second in the West, followed by LSU, Ole Miss, Auburn, Mississippi State and Arkansas.

The Gators had two players selected to the preseason All-SEC first team on defense: DB Loucheiz Purifoy and DL Dominique Easley. Punter Kyle Christy was also a first tea selection.

No Gators made the first team on offense, but St. Petersburg Catholic alum OL Jon Halapio was a second-team selection on offense; CB Marcus Roberson on defense.

Tampa RB Matt Jones, OL Jonotthan Harrison and LB Ronald Powell were all third team selections.
