What Cam Akers and Dalvin Cook have in common

Florida State fans have been making the inevitable comparisons between five-star true freshman running back Cam Akers and Dalvin Cook since before Akers even arrived on campus.

Now Seminoles coach Jimbo Fisher is, too.

Sort of.

Akers rushed for 71 touchdowns in high school, so now the Seminoles are having to teach him that not every run ends in six points.

"I had the same thing with Dalvin," Fisher said. "Dalvin would come off frustrated and mad, and he'd have a 6-yard run or a 4-yard run or a 3-yard run sometimes. Listen, that's what was there. That's a good play. ...
"His big plays will come."

FSU hopes they come soon -- perhaps this week against No. 13 Miami.

Fisher pointed out one other thing about Akers and Cook during his weekly news conference. Cook had hardly touched the ball at this stage of his freshman season.

Cook had only 14 carries for 70 yards and a touchdown through FSU's first three games in 2014. Akers already has 36 rushes for 143 yards.
