We wrote last week that the first lawsuit had been filed, stemming from the accident last September in which a bus drove into a lake outside Westchase.

This month's litigation report, a summary of pending and expected cases that is shared with Hillsborough County School Board members, shows four more Bryant Elementary School families have filed claims that the school district hopes to settle without going to court.

Two are nonspecific, alleging "personal injury as well as mental and emotional distress."

A third, on behalf of a 7-year-old boy, alleges "abdominal pain and emotional distress."

The fourth, from the parents of an 8-year-old girl, says she suffered "cervical and thoracic injuries" in the crash.

The Fugatt family filed their lawsuit last month on behalf of their two children.

A meeting with the other families was planned for Sept. 29, but has been postponed until Oct. 19.
