Now an ex-principal

FEBRUARY 23, 2007

He bought crack while in his school office. He got arrested. Now Anthony Giancola has resigned. Superintendent MaryEllen Elia got, and accepted, the letter from the now-former principal of Van Buren Middle School just moments ago. Here's what he had to say: "With a heavy heart I respectfully tender my resignation from Hillsborough County Public Schools, effective immediately, due to personal issues I am attempting to deal with at this time." Assistant principal Allison Edgecomb took over until a new principal can be hired. Here's the letter that went home to parents.
