The University of Tampa didn't go too far for its new registrar, the administrator who handles all records, registration and class schedules for UT's 5,500 students.

UT graduate Michelle Pelaez just got the job, UT officials announced Friday. She earned a bachelor’s degree in management in 1996 and an MBA in 2003 from UT, where she's been working since 2000 in the registrar's office.

She lives in Lutz and is a third-generation Tampa native. UT is a private university in downtown Tampa.
