SPC among 4 colleges lauded by CC chancellor
St. Petersburg College received two of five awards to be presented by Community Colleges chancellor Will Holcombe during the upcoming 58th Annual Florida Association of Community Colleges Convention in Orlando.
The Best Practice awards are a new thing, and doled out to colleges taking innovative approaches in areas such as academic affairs, student affairs, workforce education and business partnerships.
SPC won for its New Initiative Program, a federally funded program of academic support for pre-health and health education students. SPC also was recognized for its Workforce, Education and Business (WEB) program.
“I applaud these institutions for their outstanding commitment to student achievement,” said Chancellor Holcombe. “These awards give much-needed recognition to the exceptional work being done by Florida’s community colleges. We can all learn from these award-winning strategies and raise the level of performance for our whole system.”
